New Images for the Upcoming Crime Comedy "Masterminds"

Relativity Studios recently released the official trailer and stills for Jared Hess' (Napoleon Dynamite; Nacho Libre) long delayed film "Masterminds". The film stars Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson, Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis.

Plot Synopsis:

In this action comedy inspired by true events, directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite; Nacho Libre), David Ghantt (Zach Galifianakis) discovers the true meaning of adventure far beyond his wildest dreams. He is an uncomplicated man stuck in a monotonous life. Day in and day out he drives an armored vehicle, transporting millions of other people's money with no escape in sight. The only glimmer of excitement is his flirtatious work crush Kelly Campbell (Kristen Wiig) who soon lures him into the scheme of a lifetime.

Along with a group of half-brained criminals led by Steve Chambers (Owen Wilson) and an absurdly faulted heist plan, David manages the impossible and makes off with $17 million in cash...only problem is he foolishly hands the money over to this wild group of double crossers and has been set up to take the fall. With the bandits blowing the millions on lavish and ridiculous luxuries, they leave behind a glaring trail of evidence. Now on the lam and in over his head, David must dodge the authorities, evade a hilarious hit man, Mike McKinney (Jason Sudeikis), and try to turn the tables on the ones he trusted most.

Official Trailer and Poster for the Upcoming Jesse Owens Bio Film "Race"

Focus Features recently released the official trailer and poster for their upcoming release "Race". The film is the latest from director Stephen Hopkins (“The Ghost and the Darkness,” “24”) and stars Stephan James, Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Irons, Carice van Houten, Shanice Banton, and William Hurt.

"Race" hits theaters on Feburary 19th.

"Sleeping With Other People" Review - Written by Tim Hellman

'SLEEPING WITH OTHER PEOPLE': Four and a Half Stars (Out of Five)

Romantic comedy flick, about two sex addicts; who try to maintain a good platonic relationship, while fighting off strong feelings for each other (of course). The film stars Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie, as the leads, and it costars Adam Scott, Amanda Peet, Jason Mantzoukas, Andrea Savage and Natasha Lyonne. It was written and directed by Leslye Headland (who also performed both duties on the 2012 sex comedy flick'BACHELORETTE'), and it was made on a budget of just $1 million! I found it to be a somewhat routine, and predictable, romcom; but it's also filled with surprisingly touching moments, of intimacy and insight.

Jake (Sudeikis) and Lainey (Brie) met in college, as virgins, and lost their virginity to each other. Several years later they're both sex addicts, and run into each other at rehab. Jake now has a problem, committing to any serious relationships (while sleeping with every woman he finds attractive), and Lainey can't stay faithful to any guy she commits to. The two decide to form a friendship, and help each other out; with both sexual and romantic issues (the other one has). They also, of course, become strongly attracted to each other in the process.

The movie runs a pretty familiar path, at first, but then it becomes really interesting, involving and unpredictable; I thought it was going to end long before it actually did. All of the performances are good, and very funny; especially Sudeikis (Mantzoukas is a scene-stealer as well). I'm not a big fan of Brie (and I don't especially find her attractive either), but I still cared about her character. I wasn't a fan of 'BACHELORETTE', but I think Headland did an excellent job helming this film. It's very raunchy (like 'BACHELORETTE') and extremely witty (and hilarious at times), but it's also emotional and very touching. By the end of the film, it had definitely won me over!

"Horrible Bosses 2" Review - Written by Tim Hellman

'HORRIBLE BOSSES 2': Four and a Half Stars (Out of Five)

Sequel to the 2011 hit comedy flick 'HORRIBLE BOSSES', which was about three friends who team together to try to murder their bosses. This time the buddies plot to kidnap the adult son of a rich businessman, who conned them out of their own business dreams. All of the main cast, of the original film, is back for this installment (except Colin Farrell, who's character died in the first movie); including Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey and Lindsay Sloane. They're joined this time around by Chris Pine and Christoph Waltz. It was directed by Sean Anders and written by Anders and John Morris (along with John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein). Anders and Morris are the same team that wrote other popular comedy flicks like 'SEX DRIVE' (which Anders also directed) and 'SHE'S OUT OF MY LEAGUE'; they also co-wrote 'HOT TUB TIME MACHINE', 'WE'RE THE MILLERS' and 'DUMB AND DUMBER TO' (I'm a big fan of theirs). I wasn't a fan of the original 'HORRIBLE BOSSES' but I absolutely love this sequel!

Nick Hendricks (Bateman), Dale Arbus (Day), and Kurt Buckman (Sudeikis) have decided to start their own business together; instead of having to continue to answer to the horrible bosses of other companies. They've come up with a unique shower head invention, they call 'Shower Buddy', and think they've attracted the interest of a rich investor and his son, named Bert (Waltz) and Rex Hanson (Pine). Bert promises the trio that he'll buy 100,000 units from them but after they take out a $500,000 loan, and make the product, he backs out of the deal; he then plans to buy all their shower heads, at a discounted foreclosure price, to sell himself. In order to get their money back Nick, Dale and Kurt decide they're going to kidnap Rex and ask Bert for the $500.000, they lost, in ransom. Things, of course, don't go as they planned.

I liked the idea of the original movie but just didn't find it to be that funny; I thought a lot of the jokes fell flat (despite an awesome cast) and didn't think it seemed very inspired (especially considering the great premise and great cast). This installment gets everything right that the first film got wrong. First of all it's hilarious, from beginning to end, thanks in large part to the directing of Anders and the clever writing team of Anders and Morris. The jokes rarely miss this time around and it's got a pretty clever caper storyline, and an awesome car chase climax, to boot! The film's success is also thanks largely to the outstanding cast, that seems like they're having a lot more fun this time; you can see it in the bloopers (in the end credits) and you can also just feel it in the movie (the whole way through). This is comedy done right; much better than the original!
