Anthony T's Horror & Wrestling Show: Episode 99 - AEW Double or Nothing 2023 Review

Anthony T has a lot to vent on episode 99 as he talks about the resurface of Glenn Danzig to the podcast as his latest film "Death Rider: In the House of Vampires" is having distribution troubles to the point that it resurfaced at the Cannes Film Festival marketplace as it hasn't come out on home media yet, then he talks about one of the most absurd titles of the year "Cocaine Crabs From Outer Space" after giving a lecture about how he hates mockbusters last episode. The feature topic on this episode is his review on AEW: Double or Nothing 2023. Then in What's Anthony T Watching, he reviews Nicolas Cage being Nicolas Cage as Dracula in his latest film "Renfield".

Official Trailer for the Upcoming Action Thriller "211"

Momentum Pictures recently released the official for the upcoming action thriller "211". The film stars Nicolas Cage (Mom and Dad, Leaving Las Vegas), Cory Hardrict (American Sniper, Warm Bodies), Michael Rainey Jr. ("Power," Lee Daniels' The Butler), Dwayne Cameron (McLaren, Nice Package) Ori Pfeffer (Hacksaw Ridge, The Hitman's Bodyguard), Weston Cage (Lord of War, Rage), Sophie Skelton ("Outlander," Day of the Dead: Bloodline)and Alexandra Dinu (Bullet Head, Final Score).

"211" hits theaters in limited release and VOD on June 8th.

Plot Synopsis:

Inspired by one of the longest and bloodiest real-life events in police history. Officer Mike Chandler (Nicolas Cage) and a young civilian passenger find themselves under-prepared and outgunned when fate puts them squarely in the crosshairs of a daring bank heist in progress by a fearless team of highly trained and heavily armed men.

The film was inspired by a real bank robbery that happened in Los Angeles in 1997 referred to as the Battle of North Hollywood. The shootout was an armed confrontation between two heavily armed bank robbers and the Los Angeles Police Department. In the end, perpetrators were killed, twelve police officers and eight civilians were injured, and numerous vehicles and property destroyed by the nearly 2,000 rounds of ammunition fired by the robbers and police. Due to the large number of injuries, the number of rounds fired, the weapons used, and overall length of the shootout, it is regarded as one of the longest and bloodiest events in American police history. The incident sparked debate on the need for patrol officers to upgrade their firepower in preparation for similar situations in the future. It marked a significant time, as before this bank robbery police officers had never used assault weapons. Standard issue side arms carried by most local patrol officers at the time were 9mm pistols or .38 Special revolvers with some patrol cars equipped with a 12-gauge shotgun. When this robbery happened, the bank robbers went in so fully armed that the police were under-prepared and outgunned. Afterward, law enforcement ended up changing a lot of their rules so officers could carry heavier weaponry with them.

"Pay the Ghost" Review - Written by Tim Hellman

'PAY THE GHOST': Two Stars (Out of Five)

Nicolas Cage stars in yet another low-budget B-horror flick! In this one he plays a professor, obsessed with finding his abducted son; who appears to have been taken by spirits from beyond the grave. The film was directed by Uli Edel and written by Dan Kay; it's based on a novella by Tim Lebbon. It costars Sarah Wayne Callies (of 'THE WALKING DEAD' fame), Lyriq Bent, Veronica Ferres and Jack Fulton. It's a pretty bad movie; but about what you'd expect (these days) from Nicolas Cage.

Cage plays Mike Lawford; a happily married professor, who just achieved tenure; at the university he works at. While taking his son, Charlie (Fulton), to a Halloween parade one year, the boy mysteriously goes missing. Mike's wife, Kristen (Wayne Callies), is so angered by their loss, that she leaves her husband; while Mike continues to obsess over finding him, for the entire next year. Halloween comes around again; and it becomes more and more apparent, that Charlie was taken by angry spirits.

The movie is filled with a lot of bad cheesy melodrama, and lackluster suspense; there are some decent effects though. I definitely wouldn't say the film is scary at all, even when it tries it's hardest to be, and the story is just plain boring. Cage also gives a pretty bad and unmemorable performance; it's not even bad in an over-the-top and entertaining way (like he usually does). The movie isn't completely horrible, but it is forgettable; which is often even worse
